10 songs on our identity in Christ

Some of my favourite songs talking about who we are in Jesus Christ.  Any of your favourites listed below?

In no particular order:

  1. Children of God, by Third Day – children of God, saints, redeemed
  2. Children of God, by Steven Curtis Chapman – children of God, treasured, loved
  3. I am Yours, by Casting Crowns – held by God, freely loved
  4. Fingerprints of God, by Steven Curtis Chapman – created, being sanctified
  5. Beautiful, by MercyMe – accepted in God’s eyes
  6. You are More, by Tenth Avenue North – the truth of Jesus’ love and being remade
  7. Stained Glass, by Keith Green (had to have one of his in here somewhere!) – his ambassadors
  8. Through and Through, by Colin Buchanan – being remade by God
  9. Wannabe, by Royal Tailor  – free from comparisons and the exteriors
  10. And my personal favourite, Definition of Me, by Steven Curtis Chapman – Jesus is our definition, we are his.

  1. that is a good collection Jess. You should make a playlist to have handy for the times you need reminding!

  2. I particularly enjoy the Casting Crowns “I am Yours”, which I was just listening to today! I’m not sure if I’ve heard the one by Colin Buchanan. Which album is that song on?

  3. I like ‘We Could Change the World’ by Matt Redman. It reminds me that God gives me all I need to be who He wants me to be.

  4. I really love both Beautiful and You are More! Great list there, Jess. 😀

In reply to your comments on my blog I wanted to say:
Thank you so much for all your encouragement! ^_^ …and that about sums it up. 😉 haha

    1. Hi Stephen, You’re welcome! I hadn’t heard the song “Hello, My Name Is” by Matthew West when I wrote the post, but since then I’ve listened to it several times and it’s a favourite. I will have to look up Kelanie Gloeckler’s song, too. I also really like “The Truth About Me” by Mandisa.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Thanks for the list, it’s been quite helpful as I work on a sermon series our church is doing on Glittering Images and the false self that we project, and how Christ’s love heals and frees us to have our Identity in Christ alone. Great place to start!

While I’m here let me share a very simple, beautiful non-CCM piece I discovered that would great as a solo in a worship service or youth group: – I am, by Jamie Wolf http://www.findworshipsongs.com/1/category/identity/1.html (Or play this recording)
